the Ash Wednesday. To some people the Lenten season and Valentine happening together was bad timing while others saw it as it really is.
The Last time a Valentine’s day and
Ash Wednesday coincided was in 1945. This was 73 years ago.
Valentine ’s Day for most people has
been a time of reckless driving, drinking, immoral dressing. This perception
however, has made people disagree with the coinciding of Lent and valentine.
However, we must remember that the
major reason Christ died for us was because of LOVE.
Hence, Lent and valentine do hand in
hand because, in LENT the true meaning of Valentine is fulfilled.
Jesus died for us because of the love
he had for us, hence Valentine cannot be celebrated without Lent.
The kind of love we should exhibit is
the unconditional love for our neighbor that does not expect anything in
return.
As Christians
and Catholics, we must reflect on our behaviors especially in instances where
we did not show love and be remorseful.See related post
