God made man for man to glorify him. Thus, the catholic catechism teaches that God made man to know him, love him and serve him in this world, and  be happy with him forever in the next. For as the Psalmist says: Not to us O Lord, but to your name be all the glory. Philippians 3:13, St. Paul addressed the crowd saying: I am focusing my energies
on this one thing, forgetting the past and looking forward to what is ahead. So as Christians we must forget the past and fix our eyes on the crown.

Fixing our eyes on the crown require that we possess these three virtues.
Faith: a supernatural gift of God which enables us to believe without doubting whatever God has revealed. By faith we believe Gods promises

Hope: a supernatural gift of God by which we firmly believe that God will give us eternal life and every means necessary to attain it, if we do what is required of us. We are connected to the crown through hope.
Love: The love of God and love of man
Blind Bartimaeus is a practical example of someone in the bible who possessed these three virtues listed above. He persevered in calling Jesus despite the discouragement from the crowd. His response to Jesus’ passing was overwhelming. He was blind but had confidence in Jesus based on what he has heard about him. Hence, Romans 10:17 says faith comes by hearing the word of God.

Brethren, in this season of Christmas we should try to fix our eyes on the Jesus as if it were our last. Like Blind Bartimaeus, we need to make a personal effort in our lives, by beckoning on Jesus our crown of Life.
Merry Christmas to you all.
