The theme of the retreat was taken from Micah 6:8, “No, the Lord has told us what is good. What he requires of us is this: to act justly,
to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with God.”
A Touch with Justice.
This theme is drawn from one of the three requirements of God from Micah 6:8.
Justice simply means fairness. In the book of John 8:1-11, in the story of the adulteress who was almost stoned to death by the members of scribes & Pharisees, portrays a clear story of Justice without Mercy.

Analysis of the characters in John 8:1-11
The major characters in the passage are the sribes & Pharisees, the Adulteress and the person of Jesus.
The Scribes & Pharisees- according to the bible passage, Jesus was in the temple preaching when the Scribes & Pharisees brought in the woman who committed adultery.

Aren’t The Scribes & Pharisees suppose to be in the temple, but instead they were outside busy looking out for faults in people, forgetting that they also have faults too. Hence they caught the woman in the act of Adultery.
The Adulteress- She was caught in the act of her weakness (Adultery).
The Person of Jesus- Jesus was interrupted by the Scribes & Pharisees who brought the Adulteress. They asked for Jesus’ opinion by quoting the law of Moses which says that any woman caught in the act of adultery must be stoned to death. Jesus answered them by asking the sinless person amongst them to be the first to cast the stone at the adulteress.

Deductions
As Christians we should try and examine ourselves for our weaknesses. We should not be like the Scribes & Pharisees who forgot their weakness and capitalized on the woman’s weakness. We must identify our weaknesses because nobody is perfect, and change. We must not be caught in the act like the adulteress before we change.
Jesus acted as the epitome of true JUSTICE. He viewed Justice with the eyes of Mercy.
The Scribes & Pharisees failed to view Justice with the eyes of Mercy.
N:B –Jesus did not encourage the woman to continue in her sin, but he ordered her to GO AND SIN NO MORE.
