The health workers in Nigeria under the directives of the Joint Health Sector union, JOHESU are to embark on an
indefinite strike action. This is due to the failure of the Nigerian government to address lingering crisis in the health sector, which includes the:
  • upward adjustment of COHESS salary scale
  • non-payment of skipping of COHESS 10
  • non-employment of additional Health professionals
  • failure to implement court Judgment.

The strike includes all members of JOHESU in Hospitals Management Board (HMB) which includes National Association of Nigeria Nurses & Midwives, Medical and Health Workers union, Laboratory Scientists, Radiographers & Allied workers.
The strike has been scheduled to take effect as from on the 9th of May, 2018. However, the strike does not include the members of the Nigeria Medical Association.
