It is already a month since Fulani herdsmen killed 15 catholic members and two Catholic priests in Benue State, Makurdi. This incidence took place during a morning mass, on
the 24th of April, 2018, where Fulani herdsmen opened fire killing several worshipers.

And today these victims are being buried in Benue State. It is indeed a loss for all Catholics in Nigeria that is why all Catholics in Nigeria decided to join the families of the victims of the Benue incidence by engaging in a peaceful demonstration to call the attention of Nigerian leaders to do something to  end the killings of Catholics and Christians at large.

The ceremony started with the Holy mass at exactly 10:00am at St. Peter & Paul Catholic church, Ughelli. The homily was given by Rev. Fr. Mario Ozele which He titled the “Light has conquered Darkness”. He spoke about the “darkness” in Nigeria.
He said the darkness was not that of “NEPA”, but that of kidnapping, incessant Killings by the Boko Haram Sect and the Fulani herdsmen, and the lack of good Leadership in Nigeria.

Summarily, He encouraged all present not to lose Faith in God and continue to pray for Nigeria. The Holy mass ended at about 12:15pm after which, the procession commenced to St. Michaels Catholic Church Ughelli. The ceremony ended at about 2:10pm.
