May 27th which is the children’s day celebration in Nigeria, was the day the staff and students of Our Lady of Nigeria secondary school Oghara, celebrated its cultural day. The event started
at about 10:30am with the opening prayer after which the school anthem was sang.The Principal Rev. Sr. Stella Okpunor gave a welcoming address which was followed by a unity dance by all the cultural dance groups. The dancers came out gallantly which their different colorful attires. Each cultural group had their own unique dress code.
Edo group

Urhobo/Isoko group      -red wrapper and white blouse        
Edo group group              -red suede material
Yoruba group                    -white blouse and green wrapper
Hausa group                      -white
Akwa Ibom group            -white and red
Igbo group                          -white blouse and blue wrapper
Itsekiri group                     -kweke
Ijaw group                          - red wrapper and white blouse
The unity dance was led by the Yoruba group and the other groups followed suit  closely followed by the chairman’s opening address, after which there was drama presentation.
The dance presentation was led by the Urhobo/Isoko group, followed closely by the edo group and the Yoruba group. After dance presentation by the first three groups then the cutting of the cultural cake followed. The cake was cut by the principal along side head of cultural groups present. The dance presentation continued with the Akwa Ibom group, which was closely followed by the Hausa group, Igbo and Ijaw group. The audience were very delighted by the presentation of the Ijaw group. They started with a song titled SE TEME, by Late King Robert Ebizimo after which they demonstrated a masquerade dance. After the dance presentation by the students of OLN, invited schools like Rexona group of schools, were called upon to give their dance presentation.
In the midst of the dancing, parents patronized various dishes prepared by the different cultural groups.

The Vice Principal Rev. Sis. Elizabeth gave the vote of thanks and then there was closing prayer at about 3:54pm. It was indeed a cultural day!!!
